Today most people never doubt that the fenomenon called global warming is our fault. But is it really all true that if we do not do anything about how we live, the world will be warmer than ever before, and practically impossible to live on?
If we look back just 125.000 years ago, the average temperature on the earth was a couple of degrees warmer than it is now, and if we look even further back, there has been quite a few periods with temperatures high above those we have today. The year 2008, Sweden had an average temperature which was two degrees below the average temperature of 2007. This suggests that the climate change in itself does not affect me in my everyday life, and I think that is quite true since I personally have not noticed the weather becoming warmer or the air becoming more humid. However, climate change indirectly affects me quite a lot, especially in school where I have to watch movies about global warming and learn how I should live to avoid it.
I am certain that the climate changes, but seemingly in contrary to most people, I am not so certain that the temperature rising which experts claim is going on right now has anything to do with us. At least not in the extent that people like Al Gore seems to think.
The climate is not only about weather, so I still think that there are ways for me and everyone else to help contribute to a better climate. An easy way of doing this is to not have a lot of electricity running in your house all day long. Do you really need all those lamps running at the same time or the tv going on standby? If you switch off the lamps you do not need at the moment and turn off every electrical equipment you have in your house instead of leaving it on standby you do not only contribute to a better climate, but you also save a lot of money. You can also buy so called enviro-lamps, which use a lot less energy to keep running. Another way, which is quite a bit harder to get people to do, is to boycott cars which run on petrol or diesel and instead buy cars that run on electricity or biofuels. This is hard because the companies which makes the cars that run on petrol and diesel has so big influence, and because electrical cars are more expensive at the moment. But that is just more expensive to buy, in the long run you will save money by buying the electrical car since electricity is a lot cheaper than petrol.
To conclude it all, I do not believe there being a global warming going on right now, simply because there are not enough proof of it. However I believe that there are ways for us to contribute to there being a better climate in the future, and those ways are very similar to those of the people trying to stop the global warming.
